WE ARE AN ACUPUNCTURE AND CHINESE MEDICINE COLLECTIVE

The Rooted Refuge consists of a group of practitioners who have come together to provide affordable, quality, and experienced care to the community. Even though every practitioner operates independently within the collective, we still share patients, resources, and values. We also share a love of medicine and a desire to provide care to all New Yorkers with a focus on artist, activists, and queer communities.

*All practitioners at The Rooted Refuge have received the COVID-19 vaccine

Dr. Stephanie Dixon,
DACM, LAc, LMT

Dr. Stephanie Dixon (pronouns: she/her) is a licensed and board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist, as well as a licensed massage therapist. She received both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine from PCOM in New York City, and has received additional training in Five Element style acupuncture and Reiki.

Her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Theology at St. John’s University piqued her interest in the mind-body-spirit connection, shaping her treatment style to be one of whole-person care. While Stephanie has treated a wide variety of conditions during her time as a community practitioner, her specialties are psychoemotional well-being, digestive disorders, fertility, LGBTQIA+ health, and autoimmune conditions. She is also a certified provider of hospice and palliative care acupuncture, and is trained as an end-of-life doula. Stephanie especially loves working with people during times of transition; folks of all ages throughout all life's stages are very welcome.

In her spare time, Stephanie loves to do puzzles, play music, catch some rays with her bearded dragons, and is forever building her home library - recommendations are always appreciated :)
